Which is "GREENER"?
Bernd:
That's the question. Which of these, the one with the four wheels or the one with the eight wheels, is GREENER?
Eight Wheeler
or
Four Wheeler
Good luck on your test. You have till 4:00PM Eastern standard time to answer the question.

I am going to give my vote to the Eight Wheeler as being the greenest vehicle overall when everything is factored in.
The only thing that I can think of that might be greener is an electric capture and retrieve boat on the river.
Cheers

John Swift:
I'll go withe the eight wheeler as well
if the power for the four wheeler comes from a wind farm you end up
adding to the toxic lakes by the rare earth processing factory
that make the neodynium for the magnets .

John Hill:
The eight wheeler must be the greener, on several points:
The steam it was designed to run on was waste steam from the paper mill.
It was a total white elephants and white elephants dont eat much.

This can't be answered without argument as :-
Do we take into account the manufacture of each vehicle ?
as the making of the steel and forging plus making of the bits must have been very 'dirty' with the eight wheeler.
The car won't be mutch better as the battery ,motor components ,and tyres are a bit naughty to make
The train :- runs on steam which has to be generated some way by burning coal/oil.
How effecient is the train? how many 'stationary boilers' need to be kept burning to make use of it.
The Life time of each vehicle needs to be known. (and you know what us brits think of american cars  ).
How much coffee or tea is drunk while opperating.
Is the car charged from coal/wind/nuke/tidal/water wheel ?
The IC engine in the car "what fuel will it run on"
I could go on all night But i realy like the eight wheeler :headbang:
