Hi Guys, I do remember a TV program on that Bering strait trip, and seem to recall that they had problems with the drive system, (back yard engineering/bodging?) and did they suffer a leak in one of the "floats" and nearly sink? I've not seen that before. It might well be 'the original', but I'm sure the idea was also used in Soviet Russia for a tundra crossing military transport vehicle, about the size of a 20 ton truck. The Soviets came up with all sorts of interesting stuff that we never heard about at the time and is only now coming out of the wood-work, Google 'Ekranoplan' for example. Thanks for posting that.
