If I can make a suggestion.. and add in my .02 Yen....


Make your L shape with extra length to it on each side. That way if you are sliding it out near the limit of what you can spin.. you have the extra meat to lock it into the thing securely.
If you make it reversable.. so you can do a concave.. add material that way as well.

I made mine "longer than I will ever need"  and I was wrong. I run into situations all the time where I am doing a concave and need the extra length.. and still have 1 of 4 cap screws not securing it.
