I started to add a tacho readout on my 9*20...Here's a shot of the interruptor disc I made and the opto coupler that I'm using

Heres a piccy of the disc after being made on my mill..
Its about 65mm in dia and has 20 slots 6mm wide iirc...

I have some little bits lying around somewhere that look just like that optical doofor and a 9x20  :)

Yes it is home made form a design by Harold Hall in his book 'Milling a complete course'

I used a 60 tooth change wheel from the lather gear set to divide to 20 slots to get the accuracy..Worked rather well I must say  :thumbup:

Really like that indexing setup. I've got one under construction using the head stock from an old South Bend lathe. Have a thread going here:  http://madmodder.net/index.php?topic=692.0

Just don't know when I'll ever get it done though. To much  :proj: to even think about it.  :)
