Hey Ralph,
Sorry I didn't get any pictures. When you raise the table the screw also raises. If you go too high the screw will come out of the nut. You need to measure your screw and calculate how much you can travel. I would suggest buying a new screw and making one 6" longer than the original.
Good luck:o)

Hello,Wes.
I should tell you that Acme threads are not very common in Germany.
Can you tell what size it is and if it's a stub Acme thread or just an Acme?
http://www.gewinde-normen.de/en/stub-acme-thread.htmlhttp://www.gewinde-normen.de/en/acme-thread.htmlWe got something similar that is called Trapezgewinde.
http://www.gewinde-normen.de/en/trapezoidal-coarse-thread.htmlDue to the fact that I own a Myford and therefore an imperial lead screw, turning an Acme shouldn't be a problem in general but the necessary length will most likely bring me in to trouble.
You see,it' s not that easy to follow your suggestion.
Sometimes, buying is the better solution, but there is no seller of Acme rods around, afaik.
I think,I will change to the Trapezgewinde.
Rods and nuts are available at Maedler.
