Motor reversing
(1/3) > >>
slowcoach:
Hello, can anyone help, I have a single phase motor 240v AC 1/4hp that I want to use on my pillar drill. The problem I have is that its rotating in the wrong direction  (anticlockwise)    and I was wondering if anyone on here as a solution to my problem? I have tried reversing the polarities but it still runs anticlockwise  :bang:

Cheers

Gadget:
IF the motor can be reversed there will be a wiring chart usually on the motor or inside the wiring box for the motor. If you don't see that you probably have a single direction motor. Turn it around and mount it on the other side of the belt if possible is your only option.

I was going to say flip it 180º. May be the same thing Dan suggested.

take the ends off and swap them over so the shaft sticks out the other end

If it has a capacitor it can be reversed by reversing the connections to the starter windings,  it is a job for someone who can open it up and figure out how to do it.
