wongster:
Hi Eric, Thanks! My so called shop is no longer neat. I picked up this as a hobby to keep myself from going insane. I want to learn to make my own tools, little projects for my wife and kids (so that I won't get locked out of my bedroom...), maybe an engine or 2 to show off to my friends and colleagues. Most friends and colleagues think that I'm crazy to pick machining as a hobby. Hope to get the brass torches done before my 2 weeks' leave from office is over. Heading back to "war zone" next Monday :( Still taking a step at a time. Wong |

Went with Sherline's mill & lathe and decided to learn more on machining first. How are things going at your end? --- End quote --- Going well. I realised most of what I wanted to do would better suit a milling machine, so I've "shelved" my router plans for now. |

Wood is too messy for me to deal with and my lack of knowledge prevented me from moving forward with the router. |

I got a Warco Mini Mill. Basically an X2 type. Wood machinery also tends to be very noisy. Less need to worry about disturbing the neighbours, or needing to work in the corridor. ;) |
