myford super 7 qctp
« on: May 23, 2010, 09:35:34 AM »
while im waiting to get my myford super 7

i thought i would look into a quick change toolpost

ive looked at the dickson toolpost but its to exspensive for me

also ive had the dickson type copy chinky version i didnt get on to well with it

so my thought was the model 100 from arc euro

http://arceurotrade.co.uk/Catalogue/Machines-Accessories/Lathe-Accessories/Tool-Posts

my question will this fit the myford toolpost and be able to adjust

i know i will have to make an adapter like a top hat with the myford thread inide it

i cant measure the myford as i need it in front of me

has anyone fitted this type of qctp or know if it will fit

thanks colin
ps when stand is painted and lathe put on i will post pics before someone says  :worthless:

Colin, there's a QCTP for a Myford 1/3 way down this page
http://www.rdgtools.co.uk/acatalog/MYFORD_LATHE_USERS_NEW1.html
Or is that the chinky Dickson that you didn't think so much of?

RDG say theirs fits on a 7/16" stud, so I presume the studs on Myfords are that size. Arc Euro give a stud diameter of 14mm for Model 100, so you might need to make a bigger stud. Or, if it comes with a stud, turn down and rethread the end which screws down into the topslide.

I've cut the end off it twice, but it's still too short

Colin, Take a look at this one. Exact same as the Arc Euro 100. Might be worth the extra postage if it isn't out of sight!!

Curious why you found the dickson type copy chinky version a problem.  I have a dickson qctp on my Myford but could do with some more tool holders.  Was looking at making some but as rdgtools are selling the holders for £10 it may be worth giving them a try.

Dave.

i had the copy version on my 9x20 lathe i thoughtb the block was not made very well the cam that holds the toolholder

i chipped mine very easy

thats why i dont like them

but i think the toolholders will be ok

im thinking of buying the block & getting a few cheap chinky holders

thanks colin
