Hi From the west midlands
« on: May 16, 2010, 06:37:29 PM »
Hi all I'm Phil (guess the username gave it away tho)
Great forum i joined a couple of weeks ago so figured it's time i introduced myself
I am a timeserved contract toolmaker (25yrs) and have a Toolmaking/Engineering company with my friend, the majority of the work we do is for the automotive industry.
For me Engineering is more a way of life than hobby, i have always been fascinated with engineering, the way things are manufactured etc.
I have hopefully attached a few pictures and if i can work out to how to insert them i'll get some more up.
Phil

Hi Phil

Welcome to the collective  :borg:

Looks like your into some serious stuff!

What kind of stuff do you make for "fun"?

I like the jig. It reminds me of when my old boss (from a long time ago that is) hired a tool maker to build a jig for a CNC machine.... I was constantly getting told to get back to work and stop watching the jig being made and asking questions

Where are you from in the West Midlands? Originally Coventry myself

The pictures bit...  This might help?   http://madmodder.net/index.php?topic=607.0

Have fun and don't be afraid to share lots of trade secrets  :smart:    :)

Ralph.

I know what I know and need to know more!!!

Hi Phil

Welcome to MadModder. Judging by the pictures posted you know you way around a machine shop. If you have any questions, I'm sure someone on here will be glad to answer or at least give an opinion. I am sure that once we see more of what you make that some of the members may have a question or two for you. Enjoy.   :D :)

Cheers
