Square headed bolts

Why do a lot of machine tools use square headed bolts/screws .... just curious  :scratch:

A square head is inherently way stronger than a hex head, also historically, as raw material for bolts, square bars are far older than hex bars. What was once found good, is not lightly changed  :wave:
