Darren:
Hi all, I need to get myself some silver solder in ... but what % of silver should I be looking for? Any pref to dia for smaller stuff? Thanks |
Bernd:
Darren, Check this out. Might give you some idea of what you need. Silver Solder Bernd |

Easyflow No 2 would be a good all round solder 42% silver or Cup Alloys do No 842 with the same properties. If you want cadmium free then silverflow is cad free but does not flow quite so well. Depends what you call small but a coil of 0.75mm wire and stick of 1.5mm should cover most things plus a tub of suitable flux. Cup Alloys has a lot of useful info on their site http://www.cupalloys.co.uk/ Jason |

Thanks, that was what I was looking for, just a general purpose solder that I can get going with. I can look for variations as and when later, but just something to cover most stuff for now  |

Hi Darren, you have had your question properly answered, but I wish to add another solder of similar melting point in paste form, used by jewelmakers. The only advantage is that you put the quantity you consider enough for the purpose and it has the flux already mixed. George |
