Sea Urchin ornaments

(1/2) > >>

Mustang:
These are sea urchin X-mas tree ornaments that I made prior to X-mas.
Since SWMBO wanted them on the tree had to wait until now to get them for a photo.

The urchins originally were various shades of green but I airbrushed all except the middle one with transparent paint.

The caps and icicles are turned from poplar (plane) blanks and airbrushed with Liberion metalic die (black) and lacquer.

For this humble effort I think I see a 6X18 Surface Grinder in the not to distant future. :)

Those are pretty cool!

Now for a story about sea urchins... I am a certified diver... got certified in Maine. Bought a 41" lobster boat with my best friend in 1990 and was a sea urchin diver for 2 years. Got the scars on my knees to prove it (from kneeling in a bed of urchins sweeping them into a bag)

Anyway... those a pretty neat.

That's a mighty small boat, especially for 2 people!!

tinkerer:
Those are super cool and deserve a picture tutorial on the build. Really stunning colors too.
