Addition to Rose Engine

(1/1)

old-biker-uk:
This was one of those projects started years ago (like so many others!).
With the Rose Engine up and running (if not finished) I dug out the eccentric chuck bits and finished it.

Built to the design by J.A.Batchelor in Model Engineer Magazine, May 1991

This project and your work interests me.  Is it possible to see more close up pictures and drawings?

Some more pics of the chuck:

The backplate was welded up from mild steel, the slide hacked out of hot rolled MS with my trusty angle grinder then scraped flat. The original design had a 5/16" x 20 screw but I modified that to 5/16" x 40 to give a finer adjustment.
Basically a good exercise in fitting & turning....
I made it for ornamental turning but could also be used for turning eccentrics for model engines etc. (wouldn't want to run it too fast though!)
Here's a couple of turned bits, boxwood, about 2" high.
