Raymond - Check your PMs Some more pics of the chuck: The backplate was welded up from mild steel, the slide hacked out of hot rolled MS with my trusty angle grinder then scraped flat. The original design had a 5/16" x 20 screw but I modified that to 5/16" x 40 to give a finer adjustment. Basically a good exercise in fitting & turning.... I made it for ornamental turning but could also be used for turning eccentrics for model engines etc. (wouldn't want to run it too fast though!) Here's a couple of turned bits, boxwood, about 2" high. Mark |
