milling vice recommendation |

raynerd:
I have an X2 and have the quick vice which came with it which I do NOT recommend, it is OK after I sorted it out as StillDrillin showed me in one of his posts... I`ve recently seen one of these screwless vice on an X2, looked and worked great. Not got one myself, yet, but certainly worth considering! Regarding Chronos, I bet they are missing a fair bit of Christmas trade suspending there orders. Although even now, 10 days before Christmas it is unlikely it would arrive in time anyway! |
Stilldrillin:
Chris, My "free" quick vice is still doing all I ask of it. Still straight & square...... :D All I did was to mill the locating faces correctly, & assemble with loctite, everywhere! David D |

David, Could you point me at the post you did on fixing the vice, I cant pick it up in a search. Thanks Ian |
Twmaster:
I'll add my voice to the bunch happy with their screwless vises. I have that 2" and it's great. Square as square gets. The only grump I have with the thing is when I use the short cross pin. Sometimes it wants to twist in the slot and not tighten correctly. Annoying but easily straightened out. I hope Chronos is not too awful backed up. I just ordered a Glanze profiling tool from their eBay store yesterday. |

Good luck! David D |
