Those tubes are part of the Monarch 10EE drive system that replaced the Ward-Leonard system. The term they used was WIAD, which stands for "works in a drawer". As I understand it, the WIAD drive is just an electronic version of the electromechanical WL system. The WIAD drive was subsequently replaced by a solid state system, and eventually by a VFD drive. |
