Meccano bridge

Raggle:
Anybody see James May crossing the canal on this last night on BBC2? Nice to see half a ton of the stuff being used in one project even if it wasn't green.

andyf:
Green? Most of my handed-down Meccano was older than tha:  blue (for plates) and gold (for girders). Yes, I saw the show. I had hoped they were going all the way across the Mersey to Birkenhead. Even so, a 40 (?) foot bridge must have involved zillions of little screws. An heroically futile eandeavour, but great fun to watch!

Ah yes!  Something new (?) the toy you don't throw away. So, if you know a budding young engineer that's your Christmas present solved. And next year's too with an upgrade.

They are still a bargain and with the modern wheels and the socket head bolts now provided make it look "the business". The 3 CD set of Meccano Magazines is worth a look too. Get someone else to buy him/her a Unimat1 and he'll be making stepper motor mounts from the PC junk his mates and neighbours have thrown away to power his creations.

Is this too much to dream?

Dam ........... missed it ........ but I'm on the lookout for a re-run  ......... Mecano was my "Computer Games" back in the late 50's early 60's ...... and it still wins imho
