Cz120 Engravers Brass - Brass Bar Stock - Sticky Brass

(1/1)

raynerd:
Just a quick note. I`m after some cz120 engravers brass sheet 16G - 20G, apparently has a higher lead content and machines better. I`m after plate and recently tried some scrap plate I had lying around - it was found to be sticky brass and machined badly. Cz120 is expensive as the only source I can find is to a captive market (ian cobbs - clock making brass-UK) I have quite a large selection of brass bar stock from 2" down. Would it be worth parting a disk off the end and trying this? It is just for cutting another practice wheel more than anything.
My thoughts were that sticky brass was a cheap sheet brass and that bar stock off cuts may machine better without the expense.

Any brassy information on the subject? Is it worth me just paying out...?

College engineering do CZ120 in small pieces and you could always give them a ring as they usually have offcuts at the shows. I thought it had more tin in it and thats what makes it hard?
