The Breakroom > The Water Cooler
On leave next week - what should I do?!
(1/1)
NickG:
Just agreed to be on leave next week - can feel a strong case of :proj: coming on!
I'm planning to spend 2 hours in the morning and 2 in the evening from Monday to Friday. The questions is, what should I make? Really I should be making a start on the 3 1/2" loco refurbishment but as I said, I've got the bug and want to actually make something!
Watch this space!

Look forward to reading all the project logs...!
John Hill:
Sort sort of little engine is an obvious candidate and may be achievable in the time available?
Since I have had a lathe and my little shaper (about 10 months) I have made:
a. a table gyroscope
b. a ball turner
c. a worm and wheel making device
d. a couple of adapters for my camera and telescope lenses
e. a tool post grinder
f. a single cylinder, valveless, simplex steam/compressed air engine
g. several buckets of swarf
NickG:
That's good going John.
I know I could really do with a QCTP so am tempted to have a go at one, however, I know I don't really have the material for that, so short of going and buying some, I am thinking some sort of engine. But the only other engines I want to make at the moment are:
Flame Gulper
Simple I.C. Engine
Hit & Miss Compressed Air Engine
Hit & Miss I.C. Engine
Beam Engine
I think the only one that is anywhere near achievable in the time for me is the Flame Gulper.
By Monday I need to have made the decision and collected materials together. Quite excited but :worthless: :dremel:
