Toolmaker's clamps

(1/2) > >>

Mike K:
This is my third project with the X2 mill.  I could probably buy clamps, but making stuff is so much fun...plus the learning experience.  I also got to use the angle blocks I made earllier.

I milled the angles on the small clamps, and even that was painstaking.  Yes, Santa, I NEED a bigger mill.  So I knew I had to lop off the wedges on the bandsaw.  I was very surprised...The setup worked so well that I only needed a 5-10 thou finish pass.  Too bad I don't know anyone who needs clamps, as I hated to take the setup down.

I didn't take any pics of drilling the holes, as that's pretty boring.

This is what I have right now:

And there it stands until I make a knurler for the handles.  That's the kitchen counter and I'm single, so it might just stay right there for a while. :)

Very nicely made Mike.

I am a great believer in making more than you need while you have everything set up.

BTW, you don't have to be single to be able to leave things on a counter top like that.

But you have to become deaf when the tongue lashings start, and have a good nose to search out where they eventually ended up.

I made these as a starter project and haven't needed them yet, so hopefully they'll get used as I get into engines and other projects.

Bogs, I saw one guy - maybe it was another forum - he had his mini-mill setup right next to his bed.  And his wife let him!
