Between Centres Grinding Fixture |
(1/1) |

Slightly rude of me that I've been a member on this group for ermmm...11 years, and yet this is my first post. In my defence, I had a lot going on in my life back in 2014/15 and lost a huge amount of enthusiasm for these things. I recognise some names on here from other forums and the old uk.rec.models.engineering newsgroup, glad to see that some of you are still around. Anyway, little project that I did last year. Posted the entire build story over on the HSM site but I thought I'd share it here too. I have a surface grinder (J&S540) but needed to grind some cylindrical stuff, so made up this fixture that fits on the mag chuck. It will take 9"/225mm between centres, with a centre height of just under 3"/75mm, and has a workspiece speed of around 260rpm. The rear centre is spring loaded and moveable via a thumb lever, and the rear centre block has a flexure for taking out taper. It was fun to design and make, and works very well.
