They can all be saved, cost usually more than value but you can’t put a value on sentimental items, you just have to look at some of the items people hang onto that they get in the repair shop.

Dell,
It had been his Dad's who I suspect kept oiling it with ThreeInOne. A full strip down, a good soak in Horolene, a good brushing and then another soak had it looking a lot better - and eventually working!
I keep quiet about an interest in clocks because most inherit an old clock that hasn't worked for years and want it working again (for nothing!). Even if you charged the minimum wage not many would be prepared to pay. As you say the cost can be much more than the value.
Phil.

Hi Phil
I get clocks sent to me from all over the country because the clocks I do most clock makers won’t touch, I even get then sent from clockmakers to me , I specialise in torsion clocks , although I am retired it gives me something to do and I enjoy doing them and helps the pension of course.

Hi Phil
I have restored a few of the Kaiser universe, I have one myself, the paint very often starts to peel it had on my one so repainted it when I restored it, I also have the Kaiser world or as some call it a Kaiser grand universe, if you want to repaint it the colour match I found was Hyster-Yale bright parchment ( what they paint Hyster fork lift trucks in ).
