I never thought the fire piston had that much to do with the deisel creation.

There's a VERY early diesel engine at the "Museum of Internal Fire" at Tanygroes, along with a load of other interesting stuff. Well worth a visit for everyone on this forum - probably not with the wife though. I've been several times always without the better hals & my mate (who has contributed quite a few pieces) must have been 20 times & only once with his wife & she spent most of the time looking at the horses!

I took my wife to the Internal Fire Museum. I can't pretend she was interested!

We had a diesel manufacturer in Hazel Grove (Stockport) where I grew up. Mirrlees made big diesels there starting in  1908 until fairly recent years. I think their biggest was an 18 cylinder 15MW.
