A REALLY small RC tractor-trailer
« on: September 29, 2023, 02:08:28 PM »
I stumbled across this video a couple of days ago.  The video is a short build video of modifying, in true MADmodder style, a diecast model tractor-trailer into an RC truck.  With functional lights on both the tractor and the trailer.  It looks like the tractor is controlled via a DIY Blue-tooth controller, and the trailer has an IR connection to the tractor for the trailer light control.  The fact that he used a 1/150 scale die-cast model to do this is more like  watch-making taken to another level.

Edit:  The original link didn't work anymore, this one does.

I particularly liked the scene where he built his own control board by mounting a Surface Mount micro-controller chip upside down on a piece of normal perf-board.  The rig's ability to make a 180 degree turn on a lap-top touch-pad at the end of the video was pretty impressive too.

Too many irons, not enough fire.
