Kant twist with 16 gauge?

(1/1)

Mike K:
I have plans for the Kant-Twist clamps and was wondering if it would be worthwhile making ones with 16 gauge sheet (0.062"/1.5mm).  Getting a large enough piece of 11 gauge (0.125"/3mm) is going to be pricey and I already have 16 gauge.  Obviously not large size clamps, but maybe smaller ones?  Not strong enough?

I'll be interested to see how this goes. For ages I've had the wish to make a batch of stainless steel Kant Twist clamps for use in my wire EDM machine, where the de-mineralised water electrolyte is too aggressive for mild steel.

They only need to be relatively small, and the clamping forces minimal as the cutting pressure is practically zero.

Got the plans, could order the stainless, but my get up and go seems to have got up and gone !

Mike K:
Alright then...I guess I'll make a pair.
