Warco mini lathe

(1/2) > >>

John Rudd:
Just got a Warco mini lathe to repair...it looks like it been 'got at'....

Its the version that has the digital control panel with the speed readout...

What I need to know is where does the little speed pick up board attach ...?  It lives under the gear change cover on the left of the machine, I can see the slotted disc, but nowhere for the pickup to attach....

Anyone got one? A photo would be nice..

TIA.
John

John Rudd:
Pete,

A thousand thank yous to you......

I cant help but think that this machine has been 'tinkered with'......

But now have the confidence that there is a missing hole for the board to be attached to....

A job for tomorrow now, and I can get it back to its owner...

Once again many thanks...

John

Peter Cordell:
The fitting for the sensor is like  the old meccano L brackets one side has a round hole the other has a slot thats about it,
The round hole has a small nut and bolt going to the sensor the slotted hole has a selftapping screw into the metal casing,

The sensor wire just runs unprotected round the outside and slips under the side of the control box hopefully not getting trapped

John Rudd:
Well after getting the runaround on this lathe, I finally got it sorted....

Its very rare to see closed loop control on speed on a lathe....And this lathe is an exception...

After replacing the slotted opto device I got the lathe to run....but the tacho readout was way off.....by a factor of 4....

Top speed of the lathe is supposed to be 2500 rpm....Not 10,000!!!

Looks like somone has been fiddling and fitted the wrong encoder disc...I made another out of fibre glass pcb  and cut 10 slots...Painted it black.

Now we get the right speeds...

All sorted now so its owner is coming to collect on Thursday hopefully....

THE END.....
