Chester DB8 lathe |

John Rudd:
Hopefully someone out there has one.....not the later DB8VS which is a variable speed machine....The original DB8 is a single phase induction motor driven lathe with 6 speeds achieved by moving the secondary belt... I'm trying to find out the toothed belt number for a Chester DB8 lathe, its the toothed belt that drives the motor-auxiliary pulley, not the main drive Vee belt... Unfortunately Chester cannot help at the moment... Cheers |

John, this is probably not of much help, applies to the DB10, and maybe you've seen it already but there are a few clues here: http://www.enuii.com/chinese_lathe/ |
John Rudd:
Not seen that Steve, but helpful....err in reminding that the belt maybe obsolete  I'll keep trying.. |

Wish I could have found more -- I did searches for type "F" belts, but only got typical tooth belt catalogs for the usual versions -- XL etc. He did mention re-gearing his lathe to accept conventional belts. I wonder if, though obsolete here, whether the F type belts (.1875 pitch) may still be manufactured in China for their domestic use in older style machines? Maybe an online marketplace like Alibaba might turn up something... |
