Ball handle corkscrew
« on: October 02, 2019, 07:30:21 AM »
I wonder whether I should apologise for the trivial nature of this "New from Old".  I am in awe of Andrew's offerings.

Some time ago I broke a corkscrew .  In fact it was so long ago that I can't even remember what it looked like before it broke, but the screwy bit has been lying on the bench getting in the way waiting for me to be inspired  :med: :coffee: about what to use to "repair" it. No doubt I would have come up with something sooner if it had been our only corkscrew.

This week I had an idea  :bugeye:.  I got on with and the picture shows the end result.  :ddb: By far the worst part of the job was polishing the handle which was badly pitted.

Common sense is unfortunately not as common as its name suggests.

Very nice, my 'proper' one got broken by someone at a recent party, the wife bought me one in Spain last week when she visited her sister, but that was confiscated at the airport, so I'm reduced to a pathetic little lever one from the super market !
