I don't often have need of a torque wrench, and if I do I have two. One has a dial and a recording needle but only reads to a 60 ft lbs and the other is a beam type wrench.
Last time I used the beam type wrench (to check some wheel nuts) I found it nearly impossible to watch the pointer and heave on the wrench at the same time. For the amount I use it I couldn't really justify buying another one so I thought I could add an audible signal when it reached a particular setting.
I thought about it for a while

, and rejected some simple ideas

but eventually came up with a solution that appears to work and have a reasonable prospect of being sufficiently robust without getting in the way.
Here are the pictures.
