Thank you maybe I am getting there, might have been easier to sling the carriage stop over the hedge into next door LOL

Well done Phil, I know it's a pain when we bleat on about picture sizes, but it needs to accommodate a wide range of platforms so all can enjoy your work.

Thanks Andrew
I bought an iMac out of despair with windows 8, but of course it has its own foibles it works brilliantly across my apple devices, but to be fair it sometimes causes problems with people on other systems.
Either way looks like I'm sorted!
So back to the questions that accompanied the pictures Phil

It looks like it mounts on a bracket at the hex end , on the clubs Mk1 Little John there is a bracket on the bed below the headstock with a 3/8" rod , this may be an after market mod .

On the one that I had on a Colchester Student a few eons ago, the side of the apron was tapped 1/2" UNC, and the stop bolted onto it directly. But it had a 'keeper nut' on it to stop it falling apart in storage. Are you sure that your hex doesn't just unscrew and the male bit mount the device?
The spring loaded ball bearing makes it fun fitting :)
Do you have the other half of the device that mounts on the bed?
