MIG Welder Feed Roller Groove Shape ?

<< < (3/3)

awemawson:
Thanks Pete, I'll give them a call on Monday

awemawson:
I received two emails from Migatronic in Denmark this morning:

The first one said that as I wasn't a "B2B" customer (what ever that is!) that I couldn't use their 'Webshop' and sent a link to their dealer network map.

The second was a bit more helpful, said that they did have both the feed and pressure rollers in stock, and giving the number of their UK Parts Sales Manager in the Midlands. Ringing the (UK) number I ended up speaking to Denmark anyway  :bang:

After a bit of chasing through the system the result is good - two rollers on the way to me by courier expected Thursday - not cheap but the welder doesn't owe me anything having given good service for many years - I got it second hand about eight years ago, but it was made in 1995 so 23 years old.

tom osselton:
Sounds like business to business.

awemawson:
New feed rollers arrived late yesterday, so this morning I popped them in. They frankly don't look that much different however I laid a few test beads this morning, and the low wire speed erratic feeding and burn back problem seems to be a thing of the past

So hopefully that's another old friend returned to the working list, mind you, it was cold in the welding shop this morning - (about -1 deg C or so) or so, and the bearings on one of the internal fans were rather croaky - they are both what looks like a 'standard'  230 volt boxer fan as might be found in many a computer cabinet a few years back, so I probably have some tucked away somewhere.

Really cool !
And shows the value of customer service and support.
23 years on.

I bought a lathe from the UK, Chester, craftsman, 450 kg 12x24". 2006 or so.
About 3000€.
Had excellent exceptional service and advice the 3 times I needed it, and the time I needed a new sight glass 8 years later.
Obviously, when my next industrial volume business goes to the UK, chester will be preferred to get my business.
