Power feed for Centec2

Hi,I've just recently made myself a very basic vertical head for the Centec2 ,I'm now looking to adding my own power feed to the table . I'm not sure what size of 12v motor to use ,I initially was going to use a wiper motor which seems like it might have enough torque .
Photo of the head I made which works surprisingly good .

Any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated .
Thanks

Using a stepper motor instead of a plain dc motor would allow you to move the head a specific distance.
