Photobucket
« on: May 21, 2018, 06:11:40 PM »
I've just had an email from Photobucket who are now under new management.

"Hello,

All of your hosted images across the internet have been restored for a limited time under your Free Account.

We are also offering a new, competitive subscription package that includes:

Continued use of 3rd Party Image Hosting services
10GB of Storage
 No Advertisements
All of this for just $1.99 per month or an option of $19.99 per year.

Hurry, last day for this offer!  Prices increase to $2.49 per month or $26.99 per year on May 22nd, 2018!
"

A bit late now but much cheaper than their previous offer.

Too late I'm afraid, they've shot their bolt as far as I'm concerned, I'll never trust them again.

I agree Andrew - I spent ages moving mine to another host (who doesn't charge anything - thank you friend if you see this!) and I won't be going back.

Took mine off and hosted them myself, a major effort to rewrite maybe a thousand links. Naturally won't be re-posting them there.  :loco:

I got fed up with the emails and requested they close my account - which hopefully they have.

Photobucket have gone farther with me, they  have told me that they will be closing my account down in 1 week.

I  have downloaded the photos that I want to keep  and the rest can be lost.

Just having a brain fart it has been years since we stopped using Photobucket and they keep saying ( Over and Over) they are going to delete our account but never do in my mind that is harassment and we should look into a class action suit. Any thoughts?

Tom,
I'm fairly sure that the links of photos from Photobucket stopped working when they announced they were going to charge. I found another host and just edited the links to the new host.
I told Photobucket to close my account some time ago. Emails stopped and I just tried to log in and can't.
It's unfortunate that links to Google Photos or Google Drive don't work.

I just tried a photo from my Google Drive.

Although the link doesn't work if inserted using the Insert Image button if you use Insert Hyperlink button the link to the photo on the web appears.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByxY2AT-A1L-WkczQkR6RTJUZFU/view?usp=sharing&resourcekey=0-wmYCFdGnZD8jMDeSRDVlbw

Does this link show a photo of an MDF loco wheel for everyone?  It does for me!
