Chucks Aweigh! |
(1/2) > >> |
Pete.:
I'm getting quite a collection of chucks for my lathe so today I thought I would knock together a simple rack from plywood to hold them. It has room for 12 but currently has just 9 spaces populated. It's pretty basic but it does the job. |

Very neat Pete  I hope the fixings are good and strong, that could end up with some serious weight in it! |
Mike E.:
I would agree with Andrew. As the shelves are put together with butt joints rather than rabbit joints, consider adding a few extra screws. |

Nice job Pete; might I suggest you put a smallish right angle bracket in ea. corner & one in the middle of the shelves at the centre point at the back... just that little extra bit of support... George. |
Pete.:
It's plenty strong enough. I got the wife to sit on it for a test :D Joking aside - I have dowels and 3" screws holding it together and to the back-board. I also deliberately spaced the holes so the smaller chucks are in the middle of the rack but on top of all that I stood on each shelf with my 92kg weight and it never even creaked. |
