Returning to the O/P's initial question, is the LCD not trapped by the case against the conductive pad and PCB, and thus effectively the case is in this example the 'clip' ? |

Just looking at the picture I would suggest that something is missing. Probably the conductive elastomer. These are really special. They conduct vertically but not horizontally. I have 2 micrometers now. One chinese with a LCD and another Starrett which is fully mechanical but speaks some foreign language (have to divide everything by 2.45...). Despite that I prefer the Starrett. |
