For some time I've been marking out using copper sulphate solution with good results, except on newly purchased drawn steel.
The problem is getting the surface of the steel truly clean, that is, water break free. What can the amateur do to entirely remove the surface contamination? Degreasing in petrol doesn't work, the oils are removed but the surface still water breaks making the copper deposit very patchy and non adherent. Even following up with a detergent doesn't help much.
Thanks in advance.
