Thanks Pekka. There's quite a bit of flat stock available on e-bay, but not much for round bar. I think for the time it takes to craft a nice ring, I would want to use the best materials available rather than fake it. Interesting idea though, would be good for larger items.

I didn't think to check Etsy..thanks for the link. Nice to see a guy who values his product...$100+/inch is getting pretty pricey! Looks like he ships to Canada.

Does anyone know where I could get a small length of 1" 'ish' Damascus steel round bar in Canada? I've made a bunch of rings out of stainless, inconel, and titanium, but Damascus (or in combination with other steels) would have a very interesting look.

Hi Paul, :wave:   A question if I may.... Inconel!?   how tough is that to machine? I've recently been fighting with titanium (really fighting) and I was given some inconel... I've not tried it yet as I've heard its a nightmare!?
