Thanks Pekka. There's quite a bit of flat stock available on e-bay, but not much for round bar. I think for the time it takes to craft a nice ring, I would want to use the best materials available rather than fake it. Interesting idea though, would be good for larger items. I didn't think to check Etsy..thanks for the link. Nice to see a guy who values his product...$100+/inch is getting pretty pricey! Looks like he ships to Canada. Thanks again. Paul |

Very nice shiny stuff chief  --- Quote from: fatal-exception on April 18, 2017, 03:49:12 PM ---Nice looking stuff Eric. Does anyone know where I could get a small length of 1" 'ish' Damascus steel round bar in Canada? I've made a bunch of rings out of stainless, inconel, and titanium, but Damascus (or in combination with other steels) would have a very interesting look. Paul --- End quote --- Hi Paul, A question if I may.... Inconel!? how tough is that to machine? I've recently been fighting with titanium (really fighting) and I was given some inconel... I've not tried it yet as I've heard its a nightmare!? Ralph. |
