Where decent quality HSS and carbide tool blanks? |
(1/1) |
PekkaNF:
There are occasions when even most die hard carbide insert user just have to sulk and grind the (form) tool from HSS or alternative tool from a blank and raid to broken tap box does not inspire. This one worked fine with low quality indian? HSS, but when I was grinding it, some inclusions/pores were revealed, no big deal on POM, but not very optimal when you have to grind off extra 3mm on small 1/8" blank. Long story short, where to get decent 2-6 mm sguare HSS blanks and round small fine grain carbide blanks? Pekka |

Hi Pekka I got a box of Cleveland M-Max cobalt blanks off Ebay years ago. Will last me for life. Good brand. Komet is also good. Have you looked on Ebay Kleinanzeigen in Germany? search for "Drehstahl" https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/treebay-ad.html?id=v1|182611216304|0 or https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/treebay-ad.html?id=v1|132234171608|0 Mark |

Thank you I'd like to be pretty sure which grade of carbide/HSS I'm buying. Some have been pretty disapointing. Got some pretty good old stock Sandvik/Seco, but it is pretty thick section and I need mostly small section. M-Max cobalt should be pretty good. Pekka |
