3 point Linkage crane |

This is primarily aimed at the farmers here!! I have a nice green Deutz tractor (with soft turf tires for use in the rugby club). It has a full 3 point linkage for the various attachments - Ok no problermo So my wacky MM idea is: How to design a structure that mounts on the 3 point and probably the main hitch that could user the movement of the 3 point lifting arms to create a crane effect? Would be nice to vary lift reach and lifting capacity with a set of holes. Yes it has hydraulics but now we expensive!! I really want a set of articulated levers that will transition the 3 point lift to a say 2,3,4 times lift! |

Probably not a solution to your issue, but in looking at linkages myself recently I came across this neat video that might provide some inspiration. |

Hi, Google 'Ferguson Crane' and you will find many pictures of what you have in mind. |

Rugby must be a pretty rough sport if tractors are allowed  |

There are two designs that I've seen. The first is a simple gallows shape with the lift entirely provided by lifting the linkage arms. The second is essentially a conventional engine crane mounted on the three point linkage with the hydraulic cylinder operated off a spool valve on the tractor rather than a hand operated pump. |
