Electrolysis, and cast iron. |

Electrolysis, and cast iron. I been trawling the net for weeks, and totally confused as to whether electrolysis will harm/damage cast iron. Has anyone tried it? if so what's your thoughts on it? Thanks |

First let me say welcome to the forum  Could you post an introduction in the Introductions section to let us know what you're up to ? I've used electrolysis successfully on cast iron several times in the past, but now I'm a convert to using Citric Acid for rust removal as it just more convenient not needing power supplies etc, and the liquid can safely be poured down the drain. |

I agree with Andrew about rust removal. Citric acid does a good job, it is cheap and easy. Why bother with all those other chemicals and electrolysis? |

Thanks for the replies I've already got a 45 gallon tank set up, that I've used for steel parts before, and I can leave parts in for hours to clean it's self Cheers |
