David, I've not found them to be very reliable.

However there is insufficient headroom below the tank to fit one - the condensate has to flow into the bowl of the mechanical type by gravity, in order that the float rises and lets the water out. So not applicable in this case.

We fitted an electronic drain that looks identical to yours two years back. It's been faultless.
