I'm Dave, retired 3 years now, keen on restoring, modding and building toy steam engines and accessories. I have a collection of about 30 engines now, it seemed like a logical progression to invest in a small lathe which I have very recently done. It's even older than me - works just fine but as I have never used one before I am just starting to get comfortable with it and getting the essentials together. I understand that when you get to a certain age it's vital to be learning new skills to stop the brain shrivelling up - I am hoping that learning new skills may re-inflate an already shrivelled one! We shall see.. Dave |

Happy to oblige: The chuck keys were only left in for photo purposes - I am quite safety conscious. This is an original ad from around 1950 I think: The 'cabinet' is really just a motor cover, but the bottom drawer is useable. I've shown it with a quick change tool holder that the seller made, there is an original holder too plus some centres and spare spindle. I have spent a good bit of time adjusting out as much play as I can in the various moving bits, found a new drive belt at the local washer repairer for £2, good to go now. Dave |
