2 stroke piston ring pegs
« on: August 09, 2016, 06:53:11 AM »
i need advice as the title  two have dropped out i have one so i could use a drill the same size for the other
could i use loctite to put them back in the holes they came out of they are only there to stop the rings spinning and getting caught in the ports or should i just replace the piston is it worth the risk of them comming out ?
thanks polecat

Pistons get hotter than the decomposition temperature of Loktite. Not worth the risk.
They need to be a solid press fit.
They are indeed there to dtop the rings rotating nd hooking up in the ports. If they do, they break immediately, usually damaging the ring grooves and scoring the bore... :(
Cheers,
Joe
