3D printed disc brake

<< < (2/2)

inthesticks:
3D printing has been around a long time now and I'm still amazed by the work that can be done with it. I'm shure a skilled operator has everything to do with it.
Great work Joules.

Cheers CB

Joules:
Cheers guys, it still needs work.  The calipers are flexing when the brake is on, so it needs a bit more meat and some stiffening ribs should sort it.

Joules:
Some interesting ideas popping up with this little disc brake.  One is to have 3-4 calipers around the disc, each splined shaft has a small but thick section gear, all the pads are moved by a pair of ring gears.    Due to the pads being printed I don't need to worry that the start point of my thread won't be lined up with the inset splines, they should all be the same.  Now machining 6-8 pads would be shall we say challenging other than setting them and machining the ends in situ.
