The Breakroom > The Water Cooler
I know I put it down somewhere.....
howsitwork?:
but which Dr Who is driving it?
I found old carpet stops stuff rolling too far and minimizes damage to tools.
I also got one of these extending magnet gadgets with a built in torch for $2 and that at least gives me a chance! If that fails the Cree torches with zoom function give LOADS OF LIGHT to allow you to curse in comfort when you can't reach it.
Spent ages once looking for v small screw which dropped onto floor. Magnets, torch, small children all deployed to no avail. Then looked in trouser turn up - bingo.
DavidA:
A little aside on the bearings I 'lost'.
On Sunday I set about fitting one side.
I don't have a press so I was committed to driving out the old bearing with a drift.
It was tight. So I was really laying into it when there was a sharp pain and blood was squirting everywhere.
And I do mean spurting. It was apparently coming from the little finger of my right hand; the one holding the hammer.
Problem was my hands were really black and oily. so first job is to clean them.
The sink was soon a bloody, oily mess as I had to wring my hands together to get the dirt away.
Got the hands clean and began looking for a huge laceration.
Blood still running, but can't find a cut.
Then found a tiny pin hole in the finger less than a millimeter wide.
Nothing in the hole. I couldn't believe so much blood could come from so small a wound.
Anyway my daughter taped it up and we went back out to finish the job.
I never found out where the shrapnel came from.
Dave.

Acording to Dr Who "One should never put turnup in trowsers"
SwarfnStuff:
David, could it be that the head of your drift was mushroomed? Though how it flew from there to your little finger on the hammer handle I am at a loss as the forces should be downward. BUT, swarf and chips do amazing gymnastics at times.
Tape up and keep going sounds like a commitment to the project at hand.
