I'm liking that!

Now, I want some old brass gears from a watch of something similar..... Then all I need to do is add patience and skill.... Maybe I'll make one in a few years!?  ::)

Very nice peice Dave

Ralph.

Darren:
Fascinating what people do with some idle time

PTsideshow:
very nice, and it would sell well on the steam punk sites. But if you don't know, this is a site that will open your eyes. http://www.brassgoggles.co.uk/bg-forum/ I used to be an active member, but to many teenweeny and teen's that don't understand the physics of and the dangers of steam. Or that the vapor you see being exhausted from steam equipment is hot water vapor and not steam. Steam at temperature is invisible.
They all want to build the first herb, spice, flavor infused steam smoking pipe

Now I like that!  A Steampunk Item that is actually functional.  Like Glen, I visited the Steampunk site for a while, but soon found the concern there was more for ornamentation, funk and flash than for functionality.  Sort of a cargo cult-like mindset.

Dave has tastefully combined the elements with regard to engineering, rather than gluing or nailing random gears into a static array.

Good work.

SPiN Racing:
A Lot of the Steampunk stuff I have seen looks cool.. and coulda been cooler if it actually did the intended function.
That neclace is really cool cause it moves :)

Often the steampunk stuff is like a episode of Pimp my Ride.
"Here is a rusted out 1974 Pinto... and voila... here is the same car with 50 pounds of bondo.. glitter pink paint.. fur interior.. a overly huge stereo, and LCD screens replacing all the lights and turn signals!!!   Whats that?  Oh yes... the running gear is the same.  Why would we change that?"

More... non-functional art than functional art in many cases.  The neclace.. Functional and quite cool. :)
