Question About Lathe Leadscrew Lubrication

I recently purchased a Grizzly G0768 lathe and am in the process of making sure everything was lubricated. I removed the nut from the end of the leadscrew and pulled out one of the two thrust bearings. Found it to be completely dry, no lubrication whatsoever. So before I get carried away with dismantling the bracket to access the front bearing I thought I had better check in here and see if that is normal. I while back I had to change out one of the leadscrews on my new milling machine and found the thrust bearings had very,very little lube on them. Perhaps they need it?

It appears that they are ball thrust bearings so grease or oil will suffice.
Oil on the headstock end bush and along the lead screw little and often.

So I took off the bracket and removed the front bearing. Dry as the Sahara desert. Very strange.

It runs at low speed, I would grease the bearings with LM grease and reassemble. Probably repeat yearly depending on frequency of use.

The clubs G400 clone dosn't have thrust bearings just an oiler , bearings need lube I would fit an oiler as oil may wash out any swarf that gets in , they are cheep and easy to fit .
