Steve, Years ago ingots with the stamp 'Tanadac' which came from where it said, but I hadn't a clue until it was analysed to be virtually 100% zinc and claimed to be from the local newspaper offices. Again, I was in the premises earlier and got the word- zinc. The ingots eventually went to my old night school tutor who had a metal boat- rather than my wooden and glassfibre ones. Long time ago, but wife was looking at some old photos of one of my dinghies last night. Then I was out in the car and was overtaken by car with an International Optimist which the kids(then) called the 'kipper box'. And then I was 'throwing out' realised that the locks on my Spanish windows would be pitted zinc or zinc alloy - We are only yards from the sea cliffs. Anyway, aren't Beemers( BMW's)zinc coated? I recall that I was watching a BMW restoration film and the zinc was being pushed back with the spot welder and returned again over the plug. Regards Norman |
