I have to make some supports for an engine I am building, they need to be all the same length so I need a backstop for my lathe,
has anyone any ideas please,

awemawson:
A/ turn up some soft jaws with a step

Or

B/ expanding plug in outer (far from chuck) end of the spindle with a threaded rod screwed into it with a locking nut.

Bluechip:
Depends on the lathe spindle how you do it.
